2017 Ontario ParaSport Winter Games

Sport Alliance Ontario in partnership with ParaSport Ontario announced on Thursday, September 11 that the City of Brantford and the County of Brant have been selected as the official hosts for the 2017 Ontario ParaSport Games, taking place on February 10-12, 2017.

This will mark the first time Brantford and the County of Brant will host the Ontario ParaSport Games. After a recent change in structure to the Ontario ParaSport Games, it is exciting to be reintroducing the winter program again in 2017.

Representatives from Sport Alliance Ontario and ParaSport Ontario were in Brantford on Thursday to make the announcement to local sport organizers at the TCO Networking Lunch.

“Sport Alliance Ontario is delighted to have Brantford and the County of Brant hosting the 2017 Ontario ParaSport Games,” said Michael Parzei, Interim CEO of Sport Alliance Ontario. “I would like to acknowledge the partnership and commitment that will take place between our organizations at SAO, ParaSport Ontario, the Host Communities and Games Organizing Committee over the next 2.5 years to make the 2017 Ontario ParaSport Games a reality."

Alan Trivett, Executive Director, ParaSport Ontario continued the presentation with greetings from the ParaSport Ontario organization, “ParaSport Ontario is thrilled that Brantford and the County of Brant will be hosting our Games and look forward to working with them to deliver a Best in Class experience for Ontario’s top para-athletes.”

Walter Gretzky, Lord Mayor of Brantford, helped the organizing committee for the games launch the campaign "We Can Do Anything!" which will be featured throughout the next two and a half years in various promotions. 

“The City of Brantford and the County of Brant are proud to be the joint-host communities for the 2017 Ontario ParaSport Games.  We boast some of the best facilities for sport, have an unforgettable and emphatic sporting history and enjoy a mutually beneficial relationship between our business and sport communities," said Donna Clements, Tourism Business Development Officer, City of Brantford Economic Development and Tourism.

"Both the City of Brantford and the County of Brant have the most giving, productive, engaged and reliable community of volunteers to ensure the 2017 Ontario ParaSport Winter Games will be the games against which all others will be measured," said Russell J. Press, Tourism & Community Development Coordinator, County of Brant.

The Ontario Games are a program of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, delivered by the Sport Alliance Ontario in partnership with ParaSport Ontario.
