The key to success and having a great experience on a sports team all boils down to one important factor – the coach. The coach takes on the commitment of teaching not only their sport-specific skills but providing their athletes with a role model to build life skills. No matter what the sport, coaches are devoted to fostering healthy competition that drives athletes to strive to be the best they can be inside and outside of a sporting landscape. For these reasons, the Coaching Association of Canada sets aside one week a year to shine a light on these great people.
September 21-29, 2019 marks National Coaches Week, a time to celebrate the tremendous positive impacts coaches have on athletes and communities across Canada. The week is an opportunity to recognize coaches for the integral role they play by simply saying #ThanksCoach.
Many athletes have been impacted in a big way by the great coaches they have had over the years. The willingness to listen and play for your coach is proof that they have succeeded in getting athletes to buy into their philosophy. The importance of a positive, encouraging coach is paramount to an effective team environment. The relationships that are fostered by these coaches lead to life-long friendships and mentors. The Coaching Association of Canada is proud of the coaches that volunteer their time for the advancement of youth sports across the country.
National Coaches Week provides coaches with the recognition they deserve for the time they devote to ensuring Canadians live an active and healthy lifestyle. So from September 21-29, share your stories of the person that guides you and your team as a way to say #ThanksCoach.
