It's back! The City of Brantford welcomes back Culture Days from September 27-29, 2019. Culture Days is a nationwide grassroots festival. Now in its 10th year, the festival invites the community to explore, discover and participate in arts and culture in Brantford. It is a weekend full of opportunities to learn from local talented creators, and to share your own talents with the community.
Spend the weekend touring local artists’ studios as part of the Brant Studio Tour; enjoy a free guided tour of Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant; participate in the Survivor Gathering at the Woodland Cultural Centre; sing along to Canadian country artist, Dean James, performing live at Bell City Brewing Co.; ‘Paint With Class’ at Grace Gallery; Learn and explore different techniques and skills through several Art Play workshops at Robertson Fine Arts Studio & Gallery; experience the Brantford Symphony Orchestra rehearsal up close and learn about different instruments and how they work together, and much more.
“Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, Culture Days will be bigger and better than ever. Over 40 free Culture Days events will be offered throughout the City of Brantford, County of Brant and Six Nations of the Grand River,” says Sara Munroe, Arts & Culture Development Officer for the City of Brantford. “This 3-day event shines a light on our diverse artistic community, and highlights how important our local creative sector is to our quality of life. It is a celebration of who we are, what we value as a community, and how vibrant Brantford’s arts and culture scene really is.”
Culture Days is celebrated in hundreds of cities and towns from coast to coast, with thousands of free activities from a wide range of disciplines including: visual arts, music, dance, theatre, architecture, heritage, film and video, literature, culinary arts and new media.
All events are free and open to the public, but space is limited for some activities and advanced registration may be required. To learn more about Culture Days or to find local event details, please visit www.culturedays.ca
