Escape the ordinary and treat your senses to a luxuriously ‘grand’ experience without leaving the city limits. Grand Wellness is Brantford’s premiere spa destination, situated along the picturesque Grand River.
The busyness of Christmas is behind us, the charcuterie boards are finally tucked away, and the weather isn’t about to get nicer anytime soon. It’s the perfect time of year to schedule some much-needed self-care. In addition to their regular spa services, Grand Wellness also offers daily yoga practices.
Located on the upper level of Grand Wellness is a serene yoga studio with exposed-brick and rustic décor. Grand Wellness Studio Manager and Yoga Instructor, Trish Leblanc reserves this space for individuals of all abilities who are seeking growth of Mind, Body & Spirit. Classes include vinyasa, hatha, restorative, and yin yoga classes in addition to some more unique classes, such as: family yoga, chair yoga, mom and baby yoga, bi-monthly drum circle, and savvy stretch yoga. These classes allow busy parents the freedom to bring their children to the studio, or those with mobility issues to still participate.
New this season and offered twice a week is "Yin & Tonic" classes. Join Yoga Instructor, Tricia Leblanc and Becky Uptgrove, RMT on a deep relaxation journey of yin yoga with hands on massage and adjustments, enhanced with essential oil. The Instructor of this gentle yin practice will guide each student to surrender into poses typically held 2-3min accompanied by a Massage Therapist hands on to go deeper. Yin & Tonic holds a perfect end to your day and set up for a good night's sleep.
Savvy Stretch is a restorative yoga class designed for grounding and calming the Parasympathetic Nervous System. The meditative class wouldn’t be complete without comfortable bolsters, essential oils and guided breath work. After the class, yogis are invited to stay and enjoy a glass of locally-sourced Ramblin’ Road Beer or a glass of wine from Burning Kiln winery. For an additional $10 you can sit in the salt cave for 30 minutes or enjoy the Foot Detox treatment, while you enjoy your beverage. It’s the perfect way to unwind and decompress after a long week at work.

Grand Wellness, founded in 2004, is a unique local day retreat where wellness meats relaxation. Heidi Stewart-Peterson, a registered massage therapist, started the business 16 years ago with just three other employees. In 2008, Heidi and, (now) co-owner and director, Jola Westerhof became business partners and the spa moved to its current location at 202 Grand River Avenue. The spa has expanded its offerings numerous times over the years and is now a thriving operation with 45 employees who provide service to approximately 150 individuals daily.
