Brantford Presents: Take Two! Streaming Live on Friday

Eighteen local performing artists are coming to a screen near you for BRANTFORD PRESENTS: TAKE TWO! The event is organized by Grandview Theatre Company, with support from I Think You’re Grand and Theatre Hive.  On Friday, April 17 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., 18 performers from Brantford will each do a 5-10 minute set streamed live online through Facebook and Zoom.

The online stream can be accessed through the Facebook event page. BRANTFORD PRESENTS is an effort to provide the arts to our community, and to raise awareness and funds for the many artists in Brantford who have been put out of work due to COVID-19. Although the event is free, viewers are encouraged to donate (if they can) to the artists. All proceeds will be split evenly between the artists involved.

The first BRANTFORD PRESENTS event took place on March 27, 2020, where 20 local actors, comedians & musicians live streamed a free variety-style show for an audience of over 1,700 viewers. The event was a resounding success, with viewers donating over $1600 to the artists.

Hosted by Martin Smith, Grandview Theatre’s Board Chair, and Kara Spencer, Artistic Director of Theatre Hive, this month’s event will feature a whole new cast of local performers.  There will be a range of entertainment throughout the evening, including monologues, poetry, and a variety of musical acts. Musicians performing include: Drew Hoskin, Hope Guthrie, Stephen Ingram, Ed Le Blanc, Cullen McArthur Jackson, and Molly Muck. There will be musical theatre performances by Sean Hauk, Dean Rideout, and a duet by Malakai Fox and Marissa Wilson. Actors performing monologues include: Richard Cook, Caity Hayward, Victoria Hudson-Muir, Jessica O’Connor, Michelle Shortt, and Deanna Stevens. The evening will also include a poetry recitation of “The Creation of Sam McGee” by Brantford Town Crier David McKee, and a printmaking demonstration by visual artist Aliki Mikulich.

Viewers can tune in on Friday, April 17 by visiting the Facebook event page. Donations to the artists can be made at gofundme.com/brantfordpresents2
