Be a Brantford Sunset Chaser

Be a Brantford Sunset Chaser

You’ve heard of storm chasers, but what about sunset chasers? Humans have an instinctual appreciation for the beauty of nature, and many of us can relate to having a tendency to stop and stare at a breathtaking sunset. Watching the sun set is often a quiet experience that can help to refresh the mind and soul.

Especially during this time, when many people are feeling anxious, sunset chasing can be a fun way to engage with natural beauty and enjoy being in the moment. Follow the sunset through Brantford and get a unique perspective at various stops while exploring some of Brantford’s best parks, trails, and waterfronts. If you share any sunset photos on social media, don’t forget to tag #DiscoverBrantford.

Lions Park Steve Brown Sports Complex
Plan a picnic dinner here, an evening game of catch with the family, or stretch out on your favourite soft blanket with a good book while you admire the colour changes as the sun begins to set. This location has a big open sky and shades of purple, orange, and pink can be seen here over the border of trees at the edge of the park.

Brant’s Crossing
Brant’s Crossing is located behind Elements Casino and the Brantford and District Civic Centre and is the hub of three major off-road branches of the Trans-Canada Trail. Just a few steps up on the Dike Trail is a foot bridge with an excellent view of the Grand River and the Lorne Bridge. As the sun descends, take advantage of the bright orange colours that emanate through the concrete arches of the Lorne Bridge, and take a selfie with the Grand River, the Lorne Bridge, and even the crowns of the Brantford Amoury as your backdrop.

Brantford Municipal Airport
Some of the most beautiful sunsets can be seen at the Brantford Municipal Airport, located at 110 Aviation Ave. The great open space is the perfect place to see the orange red fireball of sun in its last moments before its daily retirement. When you pass through the west end of Brantford on your way to the final stop on your sunset chasing adventure, be sure to pause at OMG Ice Cream and pick up your favourite frozen treat.
