With most gyms and recreational sports shut down for the last four months, it’s safe to say that a lot of us have had to modify our usual workout routines. It’s been inspiring to see local organizations providing their workouts digitally to keep our community healthy and active. FamilyLife Fitness has been offering online fitness programs for the last couple of years in addition to operating in-person training. This summer, in response to COVID-19 and in an effort to keep clients safe, FamilyLife Fitness will be delivered fully online.
The owner of FamilyLife Fitness, Krystal Schouten, started her business in 2017, with over 10 years of personal training experience. Teaching others how to balance fitness goals with family life was not only a career choice, but a way of life for this busy mom of two. Over the last several months, this juggling act has become even tougher for parents who have taken on the simultaneous roles of full-time employees, caregivers, and educators. With physical activity harder to come by and lots of people struggling with mental health, Schouten is just one of the locals who stepped up to provide parents with an outlet to achieve their fitness goals.
Schouten holds numerous certifications including: Core Conference Specialist & Master Trainer, Fit 4 Two Pre/Postnatal Fitness Specialist, and CanFit Pro Fitness Instructor. She is also a wholesaler for the Bellies Inc. Ab System for recovery after birth.
Some of the online programs you can sign up for with FamilyLife Fitness include:
Mom Strong Fitness – Delivered in partnership with Katie Thompson from K.T. Fitness, this is a closed Facebook group in which members receive: 2 – 1 hour live/pre-recorded workouts a week and 1 – 30 minute specialty workout a week. You’ll also receive safe and effective exercises for women prenatal and postpartum, be included in live special guest info sessions with interesting topics like Pelvic Floor Physio and Nutrition, and also get to meet other moms in the program over Zoom in a special “Mommy Time Out” session.
Connect with your Core Program 1/2/3 – This program focuses on training the core to properly activate to maximize its full function. Choose between Program 1, 2 or 3 with classes as short as 20 minutes, workouts as frequently as 3 to 5 times a week, and length of program from 4-12 weeks. The great thing about these programs and the online function is that you can tailor it to your schedule and your individual needs.

Online training gives you the freedom to workout when you want to within the comfort of your own home. No babysitter needed!
