Lacrosse. The Creator’s Game. The Fastest Game on Two Feet. One of the oldest team sports in North America with games played as early as the 17th Century. And it’s about to bring the world to our communities.
The sport of lacrosse will take over on the weekend of September 11-13th as the Six Nations of the Grand River plays host to the U19 World Lacrosse Challenge. In an effort to promote the sport of lacrosse on a global scale, 12 teams will be competing in this first of its kind tournament to help promote sport tourism and cultural tourism.
The teams will be competing at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena on Six Nations with games starting at 9:00 am and being played throughout the day until 9:00 pm. Exhibition games will be played at the Gaylord Powless Arena. Athletes will be travelling from all over the world. Teams include: Czech Republic, Israel, Team Nordic (Norway/Finland/Sweden/Denmark), Germany, United States, Canada Atlantic/Quebec, Canada East, Canada West, Iroquois Nation East, Iroquois Nation West, Iroquois Nation Seneca amd the Squamish Nation
Each team consists of 25 players – totaling 300 players in the tournament, not to mention the friends and family travelling with them to experience this exceptional tournament. The majority of the attendees will be staying in Brantford and a welcome reception will take place at the BEST WESTERN PLUS Brant Park Inn and Conference Centre at 3 p.m. on September 10, 2015.
