The City of Brantford is excited to announce it has been selected as one of the 24 communities to host the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour on Saturday, December 5 and Sunday, December 6, 2015. Building on the enormous success of last year’s events, this year marks the 2nd annual tour for Rogers Hometown Hockey. The Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour visits a different community across the country each week during the 2015/16 NHL season.
The event will be held at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre and will feature a two-day hockey celebration including free outdoor hockey festivities for all ages, live music, a chance to meet NHL Alumni, and much more. This year promises even more entertainment, special guests, and hockey stories. The entire festival will culminate with Ron MacLean hosting the broadcast of the Buffalo Sabres vs. Edmonton Oilers game from a live Sportsnet Mobile Studio on Sunday evening.
“Each weekend is a uniquely Canadian experience that brings us all together,” said Ron MacLean, “Our mantra has been simple - take you someplace and tell a story. We've discovered at each stop a story that belongs to us as no other story could. It's of Canadians, with hockey at its core.”
“The City of Brantford is thrilled to be selected as a community stop on this tour,” said Sandy Jackson, Director of Recreation for the City. “There is an overwhelming enthusiasm for the game in Brantford and being the home of some of hockey’s most legendary players including Wayne Gretzky, Brantford is a perfect fit to host this event. We know Brantford will embrace the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour,” added Jackson.
Stay tuned for updates about this exciting event! Information can be found on the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre website.
