The City of Brantford will host the National Professional Truck Driving Championships September 14 to 19, 2016 at the Brantford Municipal Airport.
Tourism Brantford submitted a bid to host the 2016 National Professional Truck Driving Championships, a premier skills competition in the Canadian Trucking Industry. Winners from the Ontario Truck Driving Championships (twice hosted in Brantford in 2006 and 2013) participate in the National Professional Truck Driving Championships.
During the event, truck drivers from across Canada will participate in a skills competition demonstrating safety, courtesy, and the knowledge and professionalism required for conducting business on our highways. The National Truck Driving Championships is comprised of six competitive classes; 1) step van 2) straight-truck 3) single-single 4) single-tandem 5) tandem-tandem and 6) train. Held annually, these National Championships have attracted upwards of 500 direct stakeholders from the trucking industry and considerable interest from the general public taking in the competitions and other events held in conjunction with the championships.
It is estimated that the event will generate over $200,000 into the local economy. The National Professional Truck Driving Championship an opportunity to attract new visitors to Brantford and drive economic benefits to the community as the host location.
