Retold by professional storyteller Aubrey Davis and illustrated by Dusan Petricic, ‘The Enormous Potato’ is a hope-filled folktale that shows what can be accomplished when everyone lends a hand to solve a BIG problem! Coordinated by the Family Literacy Committee of Brant, the Let’s Read program invites families to experience the shared joy of reading the same book together as a family and is a wonderful way for families to explore a great book and participate in literacy activities together.
Join the Family Literacy Committee on Sunday, January 24, 2016 for a Let’s Read Kick-Off event at the Paris Branch of the County of Brant Public Library at 1 p.m. or at the Main Branch of the Brantford Public Library at 3 p.m. The events are free to attend and will feature crafts, snacks and a reading by author Aubrey Davis. All families will also receive a free copy of the book to take home.
The Family Literacy Committee of Brant is a volunteer committee of people from various organizations in the County of Brant and City of Brantford with a passion to share the love of reading with children and families. Members including representatives from both school boards, both libraries, Braemar House School, Strong Start, Kids Can Fly, The Ontario Early Years Centre, and Landsdowne Children’s Centre.
Let’s Read will run until April 2016, and will feature a variety of free community events to encourage young readers. For more information, visit www.familyliteracy.ca
