Did you know that the City of Brantford has its very own flag? Did you also know that you can now borrow that flag for your upcoming events or tournaments? Tourism Brantford is pleased to offer its new flag lending program to not-for-profit sport and community groups.
This is a great opportunity for teams travelling to out-of-town tournaments to showcase themselves during opening ceremonies, parades of athletes or any other opportunity to let others know that you are from Brantford – the team to beat!
The City of Brantford flag is modeled after the Canadian flag with the City’s shield of arms in the centre. The beaver is one of the oldest symbols having a special association with Canada. Adopted as the main emblem for the Town’s corporate seal by the Town Council in 1850, it has been used by the community for more than a century and a half. As well as its patriotic and local heritage associations, the beaver is an apt emblem for a community where industry, both in the sense of attitude and commerce, has long been important.
The process to request the flag is quite easy. Simply contact Ela Stypa Jones at Tourism Brantford directly at firstname.lastname@example.org to check on availability and to book the flag. When you arrive to pick it up you will be asked to fill out the lending form which states your name, organization and date requested. The organization also confirms that should the flag become lost or damaged they will reimburse Tourism Brantford for the cost of the flag ($50) and that it will be returned within 5 business days of the event end date.
This is a great way to show your community pride. Tourism Brantford looks forward to having this flag travel across the province (and beyond?) and to see the great pictures your team takes while they Fly the Flag!
