It wouldn’t be the Christmas season if the beautiful gardens at Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant weren’t lit brightly for the occasion. The “Brantford Lights at Glenhyrst” is a highly anticipated annual event and marks the start of the Christmas season for many. The Brantford Lights at Glenhyrst commences with the official “switch on” Friday December 1, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. and can be viewed nightly through January 1, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. While admission to the gallery and this event is free, collection bins will be available for Brantford Food Bank and Salvation Army Food Bank and donations are appreciated.
Friday, December 1, 2017 also welcomes the official grand opening of the Vibrant Palette Student Exhibit sponsored by the Royal Bank of Canada. Over 200 pieces of art from local students will be on display and will continue for the duration of the light show.
This year, Brantford Lights at Glenhyrst welcomes back community partners and sponsors that keep this event running year after year, and of course Santa Claus will be on duty every Thursday before Christmas. The Golden Teapot will also be open Thursday to Sunday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., where visitors will be able to warm up and fill up in the gallery. Bundle up and venture to Glenhyrst at 60 Ava Rd. this holiday season to check out the beautiful lights—you won’t be disappointed! It’s enough Christmas cheer to put Ebenezer Scrooge himself in the holiday spirit.

About Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant
Located in Glenhyrst Gardens, a beautifully landscaped sixteen-acre park on the banks of the Grand River, the Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant offers exciting views both indoors and out. This picturesque property was bequeathed to the City of Brantford in 1956. Through much hard work and the dedication of the Glenhyrst Arts Council and its members, Glenhyrst Gardens has become a center for culture and the arts for the City of Brantford.
The Gallery displays contemporary art exhibitions year round: complimented by classes, exhibitions, garden and arboretum tours, workshops, lectures, special events, art rental and sales, a permanent collection of over 700 pieces of historical and contemporary works, an artist rental gallery, an outdoor sculpture garden and The Gold Teapot and Gift Shop which provides high tea sittings. Programming includes tours of exhibitions, workshops, outreach to schools, children and adult classes, a children’s summer art camp and artist lectures that accompany exhibitions and special events. Glenhyrst also operates an educational/studio facility year-round in the old Coach House and a rental gallery space for artists to hold their own exhibitions in the Gardener’s Cottage.
