Celebrate Heritage Week in Brantford and Area

Celebrate Heritage Week in Brantford and Area

Since 1974, the National Trust for Canada has designated the third Monday in February as Heritage Day in Canada. In 1985, the Provincial government designated the entire third week of February as Ontario Heritage Week with “Heritage Day” kicking off the week annually.

This year’s Heritage Week is on February 19-25, 2018 with the theme of: Heritage Stands the Test of Time. The theme is designed to inspire Canadians to embrace, explore, and enjoy our diverse and enduring heritage.

Celebrate heritage in all its forms – cultural and natural, architectural, archaeological, and collections, its traditions, and cultural expressions. Heritage Week is a great opportunity to explore your backyard to learn more about the individuals that built the community you live in, and to honour the organizations and volunteers who work tirelessly to protect our community’s irreplaceable heritage resources.

During Heritage Week, consider visiting one or more of the Brant Museums & Galleries Association’s local sites that are open for the season. Please contact the sites directly for updated hours; some museums may be closed for the Family Day statutory holiday (February 19, 2018).
