Brantford Authors & Books Available at the Brantford Visitor & Tourism Centre

Have you ever wondered what’s happening at the Brantford Visitor & Tourism Centre?  The winter months can be kind of quiet at the visitor counter, especially when we’re snow covered and the weather is minus ten degrees!  The colder months do however, provide a great opportunity to curl up with a warm blanket, hot drink, and a great book… and that’s where we come in! The Tourism Centre is not only full of wonderful information to help you discover how great Brantford is, but it’s also home to many books written by local Brantford Authors. Some of our favourite reads here at the Tourism Centre include:

MERCHANTS EXCHANGE Ignatius Cockshutt, 1812 - 1901, Canadian Entrepreneur, written by Wm. H. Cockshutt

This is a beautiful, well-written book about Ignatius Cockshutt, and tells the story of how he built an empire, became wealthy, and was instrumental in building Brantford into a world class-manufacturing city.  This one of a kind page-turner was written by “Bill” Wm. H. Cockshutt, who is a retired executive, historian, and great-grandson to Ignatius Cockshutt. This book was built from private family records including antique Letterbooks dating from 1832 to 1898, making the story not only factual, but also a gold-mine of genuine historical information. You’ll enjoy every line of this wonderful chronicle about an early Canadian entrepreneur, and his contribution to Canada.  Pick up your copy today for $33 +pst at the Brantford Visitor & Tourism Centre, located at 399 Wayne Gretzky Pkwy.

About the Author: Wm. H. Cockshutt, better known as “Bill”, is a credited author of two books, a retired executive, and avid historian. He and his wife of over 58 years, Helen, raised four successful businessmen, and currently reside in London, Ontario.
