Every four years, the world gathers together it's best winter athletes for incredible competition. And every four years, a lot of the world still doesn’t understand the sport that has brooms sweeping frantically and granite rocks majestically sliding along the ice looking for the bullseye. But those of us from the “True North Strong and Free”, we all know and embrace the sport of curling. The strategy, the skill and nail-biter games. It’s a part of our Canadian fabric and has such a range of participants. Kids, seniors, persons with disabilities, and everyone in between, you will find someone from every walk of life who is an avid curler.
To celebrate the great game of curling and to be a part of the Olympic excitement, the Paris Curling Club (14 Oak Ave, Paris) will be hosting an Olympic Open House on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. This free event is open to the whole community to help cheer on the Canadian Olympic curling teams. You can even have a chance to step out on the ice and try the game for yourself. Instructors will be on hand to show you how to sweep, throw the rocks and yell, “Hurry! Hard!” Be sure to bring a helmet so that everyone is safe.
This family friendly event will have on and off ice games for everyone. Refreshments will also be available for purchase. To register, send an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org, or if you’re in the area, drop into the club and have a great visit.
