It’s that time of the year again. The weather is finally getting warmer so get your teams together for one of Brantford’s most exciting and fun-filled tournaments.
3 Days of competition
14 Ball hockey rinks
Over 450 games will be played on the two BHi Brantford outdoor rinks, eight set up in the parking lot, three in the tennis courts and one rink inside the arena. This tournament is a festival to behold with some teams dressed up in whimsical attire. The teams compete hard against each other, but the social aspect after scheduled games makes a big impact to the economy. Many are staying at local hotels and gathering at restaurants for meals to share their stories of glory from that day’s competitions. This tournament itself adds an estimated $238,000 to the local economy.
Opening Ceremonies will begin on Saturday, June 2nd at 12:30 pm with the ceremonial “ball drop” with the tournament’s namesake – Walter Gretzky. This year, all players will be gathered at centre ice for a moment of remembrance and stick thumping in honour of the Humboldt Broncos.
The proceeds from this tournament go to The Lung Association
which will be directed towards lung health research, research that is very close to the heart of the Gretzky family.
Thank you to The Lung Association, Ball Hockey International
and all the tireless volunteers and community supporters who make this tournament a great success each year.
