The 'Natural Path Tour' with Grand Experiences & Heart’s Content Farm

The Natural Path is a 2 day cycling & voyageur canoe experience that’s a truly unique, rural adventure that really highlights Brantford’s beautiful eco-tourism offerings.  Offered by Grand Experiences and Heart's Content Organic Farm, read on to see what the tour is all about, and where you can book yours.

The scene:  Immerse yourself into the rustic country lifestyle as your experienced, interpretive guides lead you as you cycle along the Trans Canada Trail.  Take in the natural countryside as you pass by fields, farms & forest. Be sure to keep your eye open for the chance to tour an artisanal pottery studio located on the trail. Stop at your leisure and indulge your curiosity if you see something of interest!

All the cycling is definitely building up a hearty appetite, and just in time, because you’re about to reach Heart's Content Organic Farm. Located just off Jerseyville Road West, Richard and Ella greet you right on the trail, and welcome everyone with open arms to an educational farm experience.  Enjoy a comfortable rustic farm stay as you sleep in tents under the starry night sky. (Outdoor washroom facilities are even available for an authentic experience!) Be sure to participate on a plant walk guided by Richard (who is a Naturopathic Doctor) to learn about native herbs and medicines. After a delicious farm-sourced dinner, take a quick jaunt on your bicycle and treat yourself to a pint at the Bell City Brewery – one of Brantford’s first microbreweries. Enjoy a cold locally crafted beer on their patio and reflect upon the day’s adventures.

Alternatively, you can book your night’s stay at the Best Western Brantford Hotel and Conference Centre if you prefer, where you’ll be spoiled with all the amenities of a city-goer!

The next day, wake up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed to gather eggs, and prepare your own breakfast on the farm. Enjoy your meal in the peace & quiet of the countryside, as the warm breeze blows by.  After you're fueled up, you’ll continue cycling down the trail into Brantford and experience her Majesty’s Royal Chapel of the Mohawks National Historic Site.  Interpretive guides will share the historical significance of the 18th century church & its connections with the local First Nations community.

Continue on your journey to the banks of the Grand River, and launch in the majestic 12 person Voyageur Canoes to experience an adventure along the Grand's legendary Oxbow. Paddle your way down the river and enjoy an experience truly unique as you soak in the sunshine and enjoy the river guides as they share interesting facts about the river and history of the area. It’s truly a local experience to be found nowhere else.
