Tourism Brantford's June Sport Networking Meeting Recap

Tourism Brantford's June Sport Networking Meeting Recap

June's Sport Networking Meeting was held at the Best Western Hotel and Conference Centre Brantford on June 14, 2018.

This was the second sport networking meeting of 2018, and proved to be very successfull as a breakfast meeting from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.  It is our hope, that by offering the meetings at different times of the day, that we are allowing more people to attend and benefit from them.

The meeting was kicked off by Donna Clements, who gave a warm welcome and introduction to Rob Lavigne, who elequently spoke about the sudden passing of our dear friend Syd Bolton.  Rob spoke about Syd's fantastic qualities as a business man, video-game enthusisats, valued friend, and wonderful family man.  Syd will be deepply missed by friends and family in our community.  Syd was the owner of the Personal Computer Museum, located at 13 Alma Street in Brantford.

Following that, we were introduced to Jason Parker, the founder & President of Room Roster.  Jason gave an in-depth overview of what Room Roster is, and how it can benefit all aspects of Sport Tourism. The app provides seamless reporting and data collection, scheduling and scoring, a hotel portal, messaging, registration, accommodation and communication, and more!  It's your one-stop-shop for planning a great weekend away at a sports tournament.  For more information on Room Roster, please visit their website!

At that point, we were running a bit short on time, so Donna opened the floor up to shout outs:

John Bradford (News4Brant) - John introduced his new chief engineer of logistics, Jesse Ferguson.  Jesse's area of expertise is sports - he would love to publish your story for you. It's as simple as you supplying the content and he will publish it for you!

Rob Smith (SKIP) - Rob introduced his business: "a dating service" for seniors and students!  The organization pairs students with seniors and encourages them to spend time together.  They are running lots of different programs, and coming up is their 2nd annual Colour Run on September 9th, 2018.  It's fitting that day is also national "Grandparents" Day! They are looking for volunteers, so if you are interested, please visit their website goskip.org  and click on the banner to fill out a form and register.

JR Gallinza (ROLE) - JR informed us that his business is offering 4 weeks of summer camps including: yoga, meditiation, food & nutrition training, and basketball camps.  Visit RolePlayers.ca and you can find registration on there.  You can also check out the personal training section of the website if you're interested in losing weight!

Linda Moyer (United Way) - Join us at the United Way truck pull at the Paris Fairgrounds on Saturday, September 1st, 2018.  If you put in a team, you'll recieve free entry into the fair!  Also coming up in November is their Dodge Ball Tournament, and they are getting ACTUAL referees for this year, based on previous year's schenanigans!

Bill Harding (Brantford Sports Council) - Bill talked about his upcoming golf tournament for the Sports Hall on Friday, July 6th, 2018.

Marcus Schneider (Moksha Yoga) - Marcus volunteered to provide gifts for any fundraisers in need of donations, and to contact him if you are interested.

After the shout outs, we moved on to door prizes!

Jackie Young, owner of Dominos Pizzza Branford and Hamilton, won a cooler bag and a $25 gift card to Myra's Bar & Grill, located inside the Best Western Hotel & Conference Centre Brantford.

Lindsay Haynes, Director of Sales for the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Brantford, won the Tourism Branford bluetooth speaker.

And last but certainly not least, Rob Smith of SKIP won a beautiful gift basket.

Tourism Brantford would like to thank all of the businesses who donated for the door prizes, and to the Best Western Hotel & Conference Centre Brantford for hosting us, and for providing us with a yummy breakfast to start off our meeting!
