Music lovers, rejoice!
On Saturday, September 29th, The Brantford Symphony Orchestra proudly presents "Famous Overtures, Great Performers". Join us for the opening Concert of the 2018-19 season and enjoy a selection of favourite overtures from the worlds of opera, operetta, ballet, oratorio, musicals, and the concert hall. You’ll hear overtures such as “William Tell”, “Swan Lake”, “La Forza del Destino”, “Messiah” and more! For an extra bit of variety, the BSO’s Harpist, Andrew Chan, will perform Vancouver composer Michael Conway Baker’s popular Harp Concerto.
First established in 1919, the Brantford Symphony Orchestra (BSO) has a permanent home in the historic Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts. The BSO is comprised of approximately 70 professional musicians of the highest calibre and together they perform a collection of shows annually.
"This concert has a lot of familiar music for most people. Many of the tunes in this short collection of Overtures have been featured in TV shows, movies, commercials, and even cartoons! That's why we've called them "Famous Overtures"! The "Great Performers" are of course the terrific members of the Brantford Symphony, with prominence given to our Harpist Andrew Chan, who will perform a Harp Concerto that is popular all across North America and beyond" said Philip Sarabura, Artistic Director, Brantford Symphony Orchestra.
This highly anticipated concert will take place at Brantford's iconic Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts (88 Dalhousie St., Brantford, ON) at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online by clicking here, or in person at the Sanderson Centre box office. Ticket prices range from $30 for regular seating to $40 for preferred seating.
