September’s Sport Networking Meeting took place on Thursday, September 13, 2018 and was held at the Hampton Inn and Suites by Hilton Brantford
, in partnership with Tourism Brantford. The evening started off with a delicious dinner kindly provided by the Hilton and catered by White Rabbit Catering.
The wonderful food left us all with full bellies, and ready to hear insider tips from the industry’s top professionals.
The topic presented at this FREE event was the Power of Volunteers. A panel of professionals discussed their experiences with volunteer recruitment, retention and recognition, finding the right volunteers, communication and database maintenance. The need for police record checks was also outlined. There were over 22 sport organization representatives in attendance at the networking event.
After graciously thanking our hosts, Donna Clements (Business Development Officer, City of Brantford), invited Fawad Khan of the Hampton Inn up to the podium to say a few words about the new Town Place Suites by Marriott, planning to open in early 2019. The beautiful new hotel is being built beside the Hampton Inn, and will be Branford’s only all suite hotel once completed.
Guest speakers Lyle Sylvester and James Stanton presented the Trureal Global Social Net Platform
. They explained how using Trureal's global social net platform is as easy as getting your own Trureal Card and using it when you shop. Each time you make a purchase, a percentage of your spending will go straight to an organization/charity of your choice. That's all there is to it! The platform works seamlessly in the background so that you can support your favorite organizations without ever having to write a check or lift a finger. With global social network in your back pocket, all you have to do is simply live and give... At the end of the year your purchases will automatically trigger a tax credit/deduction that you can use to obtain a tax refund. Request your free reloadable Trureal Card today and start using to make your vision of making a difference a reality.
James also described how Trureal’s card gives in more ways than one: it’s free, instantly reloadable, and a great alternative to cash and debit cards. Users receive tax refunds while they meaningfully support organizations and charities close to their heart, merchants benefit because they can write the cost off as a marketing expense, and the organizations/charities benefit from the donations. The guest speaker panel for the evening included Jason LaRonde from Brantford Softball, Jean Hawke, Event Coordinator, and Kathryn Underwood from the Grand Erie District School Board. They discussed the power of volunteering, as mentioned at the beginning of this article. The panel discussion was followed with a presentation from Bryon Davis of D&D United Black Belt Martial Arts
. Bryon showed an impressive video of his students performing at competitions. He also reached out to the community for financial support and/or donations towards the 2018 Dinner Dance and Silent Auction, which is being held on Saturday, October 20, 2018. The donations will help Brantford and area amateur athletes compete at an international level to showcase the talent that our community has to offer with pride and excellence. Tickets are available for purchase for $25 (per person). This year’s event will feature the live band “Brain Damage”, and will have a Halloween theme – so dress in your best costume!
If an individual or business would like to offer support through auction and/or cash donations, please call 519-754-5425 for pick up or drop-off arrangements. Any help is greatly appreciated. You can also email email@example.com
