The Best Western Brantford Hotel & Conference Centre was recently the host venue to the 14th Annual Soup Challenge. This event, hosted by St. Leonard’s Community Services, took place on Wednesday, February 20 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and welcomed 12 local restaurants, caterers and Agency Youth Programs to take part in this hearty competition in order to raise awareness and address the problem of Youth Homelessness in our community. The chilly February evening drove in over 400 community members/”tasters” to vote.
Myra’s Bar & Grill, Best Western’s on-site restaurant, and a Gold Sponsor of the event, won the people’s choice award for best overall soup. Executive Chef, Jason Canham and Stephen Slater cooked up the winning soup of the evening – a Smokey Cheddar & Onion soup topped with a pretzel crouton.
“This year marked the 11th year our hotel has participated in the event and I am very proud of our staff for their generosity and community involvement,” said Joanne Brooks-Calhau, General Manager of Best Western Brantford. “It’s great that we can support our local charities and have fun at the same time. We hope to continue supporting these events traditionally each year.”
