Destination Canada, Canada’s National Marketing Organization, announced a second consecutive record breaking year with 21.13 million travellers to Canada in 2018 according to Statistics Canada.
According to the Destination Canada report, Tourism generates 745,300 jobs in communities across Canada and contributes an estimated $102.5 billion to the economy. Destination Canada supports this thriving sector through innovative, data-driven marketing in key international markets with industry partners.
Overnight arrivals to Canada from countries other than the United States reached an all-time high of 6.7 million in 2018, representing 32% of the total arrivals. Overseas tourists typically stay in Canada longer and spend more, benefiting tourism businesses in communities across Canada, and the economy.
Tourism Brantford is a destination marketing organization that seeks to maximize tourism potential for the City of Brantford and provide support to the area’s tourism industry. We have a strong focus on the sport tourism, motor coach (travel trade) and meetings & conventions markets. In 2018, these markets welcomed over 45,000 visitors to our community to attend events and explore attractions, resulting in an economic impact of over $5 million. The Brantford Visitor & Tourism Centre welcomed 10,657 visitors alone in 2018.
