Warmer weather calls for outdoor fun and an array of annual events that are sure to impress. Celebrate Museum Month on the Brant Museum Crawl with 30 FREE events held at nine participating locations. Families will enjoy a FREE event at Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant for Family Arts Day, and catch all the sports action at the (world-record setting) 13th Annual Walter Gretzky Street Hockey Tournament. Brant Museum Crawl

Brant Museum Crawl is a community wide initiative presented by local graphic design and marketing firm Octopus Red, in partnership with Tourism Brantford and the Brant Museums and Galleries Association. Now in its fourth year, this month-long event showcases museums, galleries and heritage sites in Brantford, the County of Brant, and Six Nations of the Grand River. This year, nine local organizations are opening their doors to the public for thirty events over the month of May.

Jane’s Walk

On the first weekend of May every year, Jane’s Walk festivals take place in over 200 cities all over the world, including right here in Brantford! Jane’s Walk is a movement of free, citizen-led walking conversations led by Jane’s Walk Brant County and Community Living Brant. This year, walks are ranging from accessibility, to queer history in Brantford, to local ice cream offerings! Each of the confirmed walks encourages people to share stories about their neighbourhoods, discover unseen aspects of their communities, and use walking as a way to connect with their community.

Family Arts Day is also one of the final events for the Brant Museum Crawl, a month-long event that showcases museums, galleries and heritage sites in Brantford, the County of Brant, and Six Nations of the Grand River. Family Arts Day will be filled with 35+ booths with art activities for children and performers on stage throughout the day. Children’s activities include: canvas painting, clay, duct tape creations, flower planting, oil pastels, chess and more. Children are also invited to take part in the World’s Largest Portrait Selfie Exhibit by drawing and submitting ah and-drawn self-portrait.

13th Annual Walter Gretzky Street Hockey Tournament

Lions Park/Steve Brown Sports Complex, 20 Edge St., Brantford

May 31 to June 2, 2019

Register a team or visit the event that set a world record in 2010 for hosting the largest street hockey tournament in the world. This weekend is all about fun, with lots of competition and hockey skills. The proceeds from this weekend will be directed towards lung health research, which is very close to the heart of the Gretzky family.
