Summer came in hot with events the whole family could enjoy all through July, and we’re finishing just as strong with a great lineup of August events. Kick back at the Brantford Municipal Airport this month and enjoy the last sip of Sunset, Wine and Cheese on the 16th and be sure to come back on the 28th for the Community Charity Airshow. See what’s cooking at Cockshutt Park during the Brantford Kinsmen 10th Annual Ribfest from August 9 to 11th, and don’t forget to visit our neighbours in The County of Brant for the highly-anticipated 161st Annual Paris Fair at the very end of the month. It’s a great month to get outside, have some fun and say goodbye to summer while you #DiscoverBrantford.

Visit the Canadian Military Heritage Museum on Sunday, August 4, 2019 to celebrate their Annual Open House and 26th Anniversary. There will be demonstrations, displays, re-enactment battles, door prizes, food and much more. Take a tour of the museum and see all the newly updated displays and renovated interior. The museum is wheelchair accessible, and there is plenty of free parking available.


Brantford Kinsmen 10th Annual Ribfest

Now in its tenth year, this family-friendly festival is one of Brantford’s most anticipated summer events, welcoming more than 30,000 people. With free admission, you and your friends or family members can enjoy a weekend full of food, music and fun. Award-winning ribbers from all over North America will showcase their finest ribs and sauces and you can vote for your favourites or enter a team into the daily rib-eating contest. Delicious food aside, the festival also boasts children’s activities, vendor shopping, an escape room, and main stage entertainment.

Calling all singers, musicians, comedians, dancers, magicians and impressionists of all ages! Don’t miss your chance to share your craft at Brantford Has Talent, a weekly competition happening on Monday nights in July and August from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. On-site registration for auditions will happen on July 8, July 15 and July 22, all leading up to the Grand Finale on Monday, August 19.

The sunset is the beautiful backdrop of a social gathering as you sip wine and enjoy the variations of catered charcuterie boards and live entertainment right next to the runways. Revel in the sound of local musicians and enjoy the delicious tastes of assorted meats, cheeses, artisan breads, salads, fruit, sauces, and more. This event features four different kinds of red and white wines, and four different international types of beer. Games and train rides are available for the kids around the spectacular airport grounds. Bring your friends and family and relax after work; don’t forget your lawn chairs!


Symphony Under the Stars with Brantford Community Symphony Orchestra

The Bell Homestead becomes a stage once more, featuring the Brantford Community Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Director, Deb McLaughlin. This concert, at the home of Alexander Graham Bell, may feature classics enjoyed by the inventor and and his parents as well as some more familiar modern favourites. Admission is by donation with all proceeds benefitting the orchestra.


Community Charity Airshow

Brantford Municipal Airport, 110 Aviation Ave., Brantford

August 28, 2019

Gates open at 10:00 a.m., Flying Show Starts at 12:30 p.m.

Admission: Free, Parking ($20)

Enjoy a FREE airshow featuring the Avro Lancaster, Snowbirds, CF-18 Demo, and more! This widely popular event raises funds for two worthwhile local charities, the Rotary Club of Brantford and the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, while also entertaining spectators and showcasing the thrill of aviation. While the airshow is free, parking is $20 cash for onsite parking and donations are greatly appreciated. Fill up your vehicle with family and friends—it’s the most inexpensive airshow to attend!


161st Annual Paris Fair

The 161st Paris Fair has been acknowledged as one of the Top 100 Festivals and Events for Ontario. This fair brings people together to celebrate rural life through grandstand entertainment, agricultural displays, craft exhibits, livestock shows, midway rides and more. Visit the grandstand to witness Canada’s #1 Demolition Derby. A signature experience for Brantford and the County of Brant residents, the Paris Fair is “where friends meet.”
